About Us

The Centre for Strategic Statecraft is an independent, non-partisan institution established to help Canada think strategically and build the capability to act in a more competitive, divided and dangerous world.

Statecraft for a more capable Canada

The Centre for Strategic Statecraft works toward a more capable, resilient and influential Canada, able to act with purpose in a more competitive world. Strategic statecraft is what makes that possible: connecting national ambition to the economy, technology, energy, industry and supply chains that decide whether a country can follow through.

We organize our programs around national capabilities rather than regions or policy silos, and we treat execution as part of every project, carried through to the partnerships and pilots that follow. Capability is a means. The end is a Canada that is sovereign, secure and prosperous.

A small core team works with a wider network of fellows, advisors, practitioners and institutional partners in Canada, Europe and the Indo-Pacific, assembling the expertise a problem requires. We build coalitions that outlast the event that created them.

Our Mission

Equip Canada and its democratic partners with the vision, capabilities and relationships to act with greater agency and influence in a more competitive world.

Our Vision

A more capable, resilient and influential Canada, working with democratic partners to shape a secure and prosperous future.

How we work

Research

Timely, rigorous and practical analysis for decision-makers and public audiences. CSS identifies where Canada has agency, what capabilities it must develop and which relationships matter most, with execution built into every project.

Convening

Private roundtables, public events, strategic dialogues and partner forums bring government, industry, experts and international partners together around a shared purpose. Success is whether they keep working together beyond a single publication or event.

Communication

Digital-first communications make complex issues accessible and compelling to target audiences, through media, podcasts and video. CSS treats communication as part of policy impact rather than dissemination after the fact.

Partnership

Purpose-built Canadian and international networks: research, policy dialogues, delegations and pilot projects. Time-limited coalitions around defined objectives, organized by shared interests and practical action, delivering impact no single institution could achieve alone.
