Ben Chin

Former Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada

Ben Chin is an independent advisor currently working on Central Arctic Ocean protection with a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.  Over the past thirty six years, Ben has worked in Canadian governments, in the private sector and as a journalist.  He is the former Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada working on domestic and international files including clean economic growth, inter-governmental affairs, Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, Indigenous Economic Reconciliation, the Trans Mountain purchase and conservation projects, such as the Sina’a project in Nunavut.  He previously served as Chief of Staff to the Finance Minister of Canada, Executive Director to the Premier of British Columbia, Senior Advisor to the Premier of Ontario and Vice-President of the Ontario Power Authority.

Born to a South Korean diplomat’s family in Geneva, Switzerland, Ben was educated in Canadian and American schools and studied English Literature and Russian and East European History at the University of Toronto.
