
Mike Petric
Mike is the Founder and Managing Director of PerceptX Inc., a Canadian veteran-owned defence advisory firm. He works with companies, governments, and investors building a resilient, sustainable defence industrial base.
Mike has twenty years’ experience in defence, spanning consulting, government, and military service. He has worked from Ottawa, Washington, D.C., and the Middle East, and is now based in Singapore. During his consulting career Mike has delivered more than 150 defence focused engagements.
Before founding PerceptX, Mike built Avascent’s Canadian defence analysis practice, advising the Government of Canada and Canadian industry on major procurement programs and defence-industrial policy until the firm’s acquisition. Following the acquisition he continued with Oliver Wyman as a Principal in North America, and then Asia.
Previously, Mike held a fellowship at the McCain Institute in Washington, D.C., supported Human Rights First advocacy on Capitol Hill, and served as an Observer for the Military Commissions at Guantanamo Bay. Earlier, he advised two Canadian Ministers of National Defence as Senior Policy Advisor and deployed to Afghanistan as an infantry officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, earning the Canadian Expeditionary Force Command (CEFCOM) Commendation.
Mike writes frequently on defence, defence innovation and exports, and industrial policy. He holds an MA in International Affairs from Carleton University (NPSIA) and an MBA from IE University in Madrid, and he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
