Akshay Singh is a globally respected expert with over fifteen years of practical experience in international politics, partnership development, defence, security, and intelligence-related policy matters and research. His work with the Government of Canada across these fields has earned him several awards for his excellence in public service.
Akshay has a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science from Simon Fraser University, where he specialised in international security, trade, and Canadian policy issues. In addition to actively researching and writing on topics related to relationship building, economic security, research security, and global trade development, Akshay focuses on how Canada can formulate pragmatic, well-informed policy vis-à-vis the People’s Republic of China.
Furthermore, Akshay analyses implications of the shift of international power to the broader Indo-Pacific, with a specific focus on the opportunities and challenges this shift provides Canada. His work has been featured by multiple outlets and publications, including Policy Options, the Centre for International Governance Innovation, and The Globe and Mail.
As an experienced public speaker that has engaged with multiple government, private, and academic sector stakeholders globally, Akshay has been consulted as an expert by several media outlets. He has commented on matters relating to foreign policy, espionage, foreign interference, and economic security, among others.
Akshay also continues to play an active role in the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies as its Vice-President.
